Giving Back to the Community

We want to give special thanks to the Elkhart County Community Foundation for a generous grant of $12,670 towards the purchase of 36 commercial grade tables for our dinning room. It is through the support of special friends like these that allows us to give back to those in need.

Flu Shots

On November 27, 2007, the Elkhart County Health Department once again came to the Mission to provide flu shots to our staff and guests. Thanks to the volunteer nurses who came to the Mission to keep us healthy.

Did you know? According to FluFACTS, the flu season is generally considered between October and May with the peak of the season falling between late December and March.

Special Gifts Received

The Verizon Foundation made a special donation of $2,000 to help us provide much needed care to the neediest men, women and children who seek help at Faith Mission.

Also, the Elkhart Branch of Cressy & Everett Real Estate made a donation to Faith Mission. We want to thank both of these organizations for thinking of Faith Mission. The Mission depends on generous donations from individuals and organizations like these.

Faith Mission Banquet Lyle Fisel, Board President presents Tobe the 20 Years of Service Award This past November 12, 2007 we hosted our Mission banquet at Nelsons Banquet Hall, starting at 6:00 p.m. During the event we celebrated the success of over 50 years of serving our community's neediest people. Awards were also given out to key members of the success of this organization. Charles Carter, former Board Member was honored with the Service Award. The partnership award was presented to The Elkhart Christian Academy for their support of the Mission. One of the most important awards went to our Executive Director Tobe Swihart for his 25 years of service to the Mission. Tobe will be retiring next spring. Charles Carter, former Board Member receives the Service Award Special thanks to all the volunteers and all who attended the event. Over $7,000 in free will donations was raised that evening.

Martin's Supermarkets

In celebration of 60 years of service, Martin's Supermarkets was asked to raise awareness and funds for an organization in their community. Martin's at 3900 East Bristol Street, Elkhart, IN selected Faith Mission.

On September 26, 2007 Martin's hosted a fundraising event at our new location on 801 Benham from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Ross Swihart, Business and Operations Manager and Mike Perez, Director of Development spoke about the recent relocation of Faith Mission. The Mission recently purchased the old RV Hall of Fame building. "By moving to this new facility, we'll be able to service more people in need of food, shelter, clothing and other services," said Ross.

"The first phase of the move included the men's shelter that was completed earlier this year. The dinning area is expected to be completed by November 30." Mike said.

Thanks again to all who participated in our 5th annual golf marathon.  We could have not asked for a better day than what we got to play golf.  The event provided an opportunity to fellowship, but most importantly all proceeds went to Faith Mission to help provide help and hope to Michiana's most needy.  We want to thank all the players, volunteers, and sponsors.
